“Yes.” John nodded.

[FINAL WARNING: Survival rates against Adethtra the Meek are less than 0%. Are you sure you wish to continue?]

“Yes!” John rolled his eyes. “Please.”

There was a pause, and the invisible wall vanished. And, with that, John strode into the darkness, followed by his companions.

As they entered the massive darkened room, lights slowly began to flicker around the room. Mushrooms came to life, emitting a brilliant blue glow that almost hurt John’s eyes. The doors came slamming shut, and John took stock of things. There were a handful of cave pools, though he didn’t really bother looking into them much, while the room was otherwise more or less a circular, standard-looking boss room. The only unique things, really, were four statues that stood around the edges of the cave, larger-than-life, depicting two rather powerful-looking warriors, and two rather ill-equipped warriors. He recognized one of the powerful warriors as being Francis, the warrior who had helped him through the Wild West level, but the others were strangers to him. As he looked around, he took out his spear and gave it a twirl, while everyone else began to draw their own weapons.

Welcome, John Mavren.

The voice echoed in his head, making him even more sick to his stomach than Adornal’s voice usually did. He felt the ground rumble under his feet, and all his teammates spun around, looking for the source of the disturbance. He did the same for a moment, then noticed the water rippling on the pools.

“There you are,” he whispered softly.

There I am? You are naïve, John Mavren. I will enjoy this. The voice resounded ever-louder through his head, and he braced himself to stay upright. Long have I watched you, and long have I wished to taste your blood! Time and time again, you have passed over my lands. Time and time again, I have witnessed your battles, your conflicts. while I wait for my time to come! Now, it is here! Oh wondrous moment, how I savor this!

Behind him, Nimara fell to her knees, gagging. Enora pulled her back upright, and John bit his lip.

“Stay strong,” he ordered. “I know her voice is disgusting, but you just have to fight through it. Don’t believe a word she says, just stay foc-”

With a powerful explosion, water exploded upward from a nearby pool. John spun in that direction and raced toward the eruption… only to pause as the water died away. There was nothing there. It had been a decoy!

Of course, this thought was only fully solidified as a massive head, jaws open wide, slammed into him from the left-hand side. Adethtra was a full Bloodskin, there was no doubt about that, sporting an anaconda-like body that had a head at least seven full feet across. Her jaws pinned down across John, and she slammed full-speed into the wall across the room. Stone cracked and shattered around him, and he gasped in pain.
